Dear Penn Cambria Families,
Penn Cambria School District has been closely monitoring the district’s phased reopening plan. We understand the struggles our families face due to the hybrid schedule while at the same time acknowledging the health risks associated with the virus for our entire school community. I would like to commend our students, families, faculty, and staff for their strict adherence to the state mandates for masking and other safety protocols. It is this spirit of cooperation that allows us to consider a phased return to a more traditional school schedule.
Last night, the Penn Cambria Board of Directors held the regularly scheduled Committee of the Whole meeting. It was decided that MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL – GRADES 5-12 will return to full face to face instruction on Monday November 2nd. Please remember with the return to full face to face instruction, social distancing may not be possible in some settings. The District will maximize social distancing to the best extent possible.
All families should be aware that in the event of positive cases the District may need to close specific classrooms, schools, and/or the district and move to full remote learning. If this is necessary, we will notify all families via our global calling system. The District is very aware of the recent rise of cases in Cambria County and we are actively monitoring the situation.
Please keep your child home from school if you have reason to believe the child was exposed to COVID-19 or if he/she is feeling ill for any reason. Please continue to use the self-screener tool provided daily. The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are cough, fever, loss of taste, and shortness of breath. Muscle aches, sore throat, and fatigue are also common. If your child exhibits any of the above-listed symptoms, please consult with your family medical provider immediately.
