**Selection Criteria:
Scholarship: Students need a G.P.A. of 93% or above.
Leadership: Students need at least one strong example of their leadership abilities within the prior year. These leadership activities do not need to be in the capacity of an elected officer. Two letters of recommendation are required with an application – it is recommended that at least one of these letters support the leadership roles in which the student served.
Service: Students need at least 10 hours of service in the prior year. These hours can be fulfilled with participation in service activities done with a group either in or out of school, or done as individual activities. Service for others (excluding immediate family members) is done without compensation.
Character:
- Positive attitude, polite
- Good attendance: good attendance is defined as having no more than 8 excused absences or 6 tardies in the previous school year, unless there are extenuating circumstances. (Please note, illegal absences are NOT regarded as positive reflections of character).
- No major infraction on record in previous school year
- Neat, complete, signed activity form: The completed activity form is a reflection of character. There is a section on the form that attests to the applicant’s character. The form must be signed by the student, parent/guardian, and by the service hour sponsors.
